The Water Mill Bridge Club held a fund-raising event on Wednesday, June 20th for the benefit of the Alzheimer’s Association. Six teams of four to six players each raised approximately $8,441 for research for the cure of this dreaded disease. The day began with breakfast at 9 a.m., game at 10. After 24 boards lunch was served. Calissa’s Greek restaurant donated delicious Greek dips and chips and a fabulous dessert of baklava. Play resumed at 2 p.m. with other players joining the game. A total of 48 boards were played during the day. This event takes place each year during the summer solstice – the longest day of the year – hence our longest day of bridge.
